  • What is it about?

Jan: It is rather difficult to design a website or web application, which is usable, engaging, and logically structured, without understanding at least the basics of human mental capabilities and limitations.

The aim of this talk is therefore to apply cognitive psychology insights to the design of web user interfaces. We will focus on key concepts such as short-term and long-term memory, learning, and attention. We will then discuss practical guidelines for enhancing the user experience, usability, added engagement and memorability of content.

  • What will the visitors get from it?

Jan: Attendees will learn the fundamentals of cognitive psychology applied to webdesign. These insights will allow you to design interactive products so that they are more usable, engaging, a user-friendly. You will also learn how to evaluate design patterns or assess whether your content will result in the right experience with the users.

  • For whom it is?

Jan: The talk is aimed mainly at webdesigners, interaction and UX designers, and front-end developers, but also at content strategists, copywriters, and digital marketers.

  • What do I presently work at?

Jan: With the Flow team, I currently work on a mammoth UX design project. We are doing full concept and detailed interaction design of a B2B e-commerce platform for one of world's largest brands.

  • Which of my existing achievements do I value the most?

Jan: Probably getting a job offer from Flow three years ago. It was (and still is!) one of the best UX agencies in the UK. Their application process was known to be really challenging.

  • What would I like to achieve?

Jan: Wider recognition for the power of good design in corporations.

  • What do I look forward to at the WebExpo?

Jan: I'm looking forward to meeting passionate people for whom the web is their job, their hobby, or both at the same time.
