Talk details:

Security is a pressing concern for enterprises today. With some of the recent data leaks and the astronomical fines associated with them, both users and businesses want to know that their data is safe and secure. As a developer, though, security is often an afterthought. Customers don’t necessarily recognize the value of working on security features early on, and they might be right. Cryptography is complex, but it doesn’t have to be complicated to implement. In this talk, Joel will introduce the basic concepts of hashing and encryption and how to use encryption algorithms to store data in a database securely. RSA, TLS, SHA, and AES — you’ll understand all these acronyms before you leave.
