What is the talk about?
Michal: Relying on intuition or copying other websites (even successful ones) leads to serious fundamantal flaws that can be very costly or even fatal to your website. In contrast, defining what matters from business, user and technological point of view (in other words designing a concept) helps to prevent these failures, enhances understanding in the team and avoids endless repeating discussions about what is important.
Yet still most "project owners" start with drawing wireframes or studying best case practises instead of taking time to define a concept first. The reason is a lack of cross-area education. Very few people actually understand relations between marketing, psychology and technology and therefore it's difficult for them to construct the big picture.
Web directing framework aims to tackle this by using easily understandable logic of film directors that will guide you through the concept design and help you to connect all three aspects into a consistent frame that serves as a practical everyday guideline for all team members during the development and beyond. The framework has been already tested in real-life on numerous projects and workshops. -
Who is it for?
Michal: Everyone who is in charge of a website (project owners, entrepreneurs, designers, product managers, project managers, consultants etc.).

What do you presently work at?
Michal: I have a share in several startups that I help with marketing strategy, UX and technological issues. Currently launched (or in beta) are speed reading educational app - Legentas, news for students of English - News in Levels and hashtag analysis tool - RiteTag. In the spare time I am working on Web directing framework that guides entrepreneurs, designers or project managers through concept design phase. I spread the word about it via speeches and workshops both for Czech universities and international organizations such as Unesco.
