The importance of contextual user testing

• What is the talk about?

  Vincent van: About conducting user testing within the actual environment of your users. While developing and testing SalesChamp (www.saleschamp.nl), our web application for sales people, we've observed behaviour and experienced conditions that didn't reflect our expectations at all. During the talk I'll explain why it's important to do contextual user testing, share our results and provide best practices.

  Vincent van: UX designers, product managers, developers. Anyone crafting apps and sites.

• What will the audience get from it?

  Vincent van: They will learn why it's important to do contextual user testing, best practices on how to do it (including common pitfalls) and I will share the results we've had so far.

• What do you presently work at?

  Vincent van: At the moment I'm mostly involved with UX design for SalesChamp.

• Which of your existing achievements do you value the most?

  Vincent van: Seeing dotBlue grow from almost zero to a team of talented and interesting people who all share the same love for what they do.

• What would you like to achieve?

  Vincent van: The same as every other UX designer: making a dent in this world of ours.

• What do you look forward to at the WebExpo?

  Vincent van: I'm mostly looking forward to meeting like-minded people who share a passion for the web.
