Roundtable discussion: Building self-organised software development teams
It is a well-known fact that autonomy is a motivating factor for engineers. They strive when they have power and trust to make their own decisions and influence their working environment. Moreover, decisions made by people close to the action are often betterthan those made by a manager. Jakub Kadlubiec will discuss how to build teams that promote ways of building these autonomous teams — so-called self-organised teams.
How do roundtable discussions work?
- Every roundtable discussion includes 5 active participants and a moderator to run the discussion.
- Each participant will prepare a question about the chosen topic to discuss. Please come prepared with a question and be prepared to discuss the questions other participants ask.
- The roundtable discussion lasts a total of 40 minutes, including:
o 5 MINUTES: A quick introduction from each participant about who you are and what you do.
o 35 MINUTES: Interactive discussions about each question (7 minutes per question).
- Other conference attendees are welcome to quietly watch the roundtable discussion. There will always be about 15 chairs set up for an audience. We’ll also be live streaming the discussion for attendees who can’t attend in person

Jakub leads software development at the Pipedrive office in Prague. He focuses on building high-performance teams and establishing high-trust environments that lead to happy and productive engineers. He has over ten years of professional experience from global software companies and startups. At Pipedrive, Jakub oversees a product area being developed by 60 engineers that spans four locations. Previously, he led a development team at Skyscanner before returning to the Czech Republic to join Pipedrive.
