This talk explores human–computer interaction through the design of programmable creative tools. Drawing on my work maintaining Strudel, a live-coded music system, I’ll examine how having absolute freedom over human–machine interfaces enables more intimate and natural interactions. With a background in instrument making, I frame software as an interactive artifact meant to be tuned and learned through use—engaging with a design space that hasn’t fully crystallized yet, where shaping your own environment becomes a playground for creativity.
