Life isn’t all rainbows, unicorns or idealistic LinkedIn success stories. Sometimes things go south. Come to the Discomfort Zone to discuss taboo topics with Riki Fridrich and Honza Šimák. This session dives into:
- What should you do if management deliberately decides to kill your company culture? And why does it happen?
Riki Fridrich
Staff Software Engineer
Outreach
For the last 20 years, Riki has been writing frontend code, mostly Javascript. In his spare time, he likes cooking and going for long walks while listening to podcasts. He hates JQuery.
Honza Šimák
Site Reliability Engineering Manager
Sky
Honza shifted his path from an engineering role to a managerial role almost 8 years ago and back then, he didn't know what it meant to be a good leader. As a result, he continued doing his job with the mindset of an engineer, which led to a lot of mistakes. Thankfully, his passion for leadership topics and learning helped him quickly understand that managing people is a completely different job that requires a different skill set. His never-ending goal is to ensure the people around him feel safe and heard, so they are happy when the weekend is over and sad when Friday afternoon comes.
