Smarter UIs, stronger web

Generative User Interfaces (GenUI) are transforming UI design, enabling applications to adapt dynamically with AI rather than relying on static layouts. This shift allows interfaces to evolve in real time, creating more intuitive and personalised user experiences. In his talk From GenAI to GenUI – Codify Your UI on the Fly, Tejas Kumar will explore how developers can harness AI to generate UI components on the fly, making front-end development more efficient and adaptive.

And once your UI is dynamic, your layouts should be too. Shruti Balasa, a full-stack developer and tech educator from India, will guide you through advanced layout techniques using Tailwind CSS. She’ll demonstrate how to use utility-first classes along with Flexbox, Grid, and other modern tools to build complex, responsive designs with clarity and precision.

Dependency management and code maintainability

Modern JavaScript projects are growing in complexity, often leading to dependency chaos that slows development and makes maintenance a nightmare. Carmen Huidobro will tackle this challenge in her talk, Untangling Your Dependencies: A Pattern for a Well-Knit JavaScript Project, where she’ll share strategies for structuring projects more effectively, improving code manageability, and avoiding the common traps of messy codebases.

When it comes to clearing up clutter, Krasimir Tsonev is taking a step back, a long way back. With 20+ years of experience in web development, he’ll revisit the tools, languages, and design principles that shaped the web, drawing lessons that still apply today. Returning after his extremely popular WebExpo 2024 talk, we know this will be a mix of serious and silly. But that’s not all 🙂

Krasimir will also be delivering a (slightly more serious) full-day “React in patterns” workshop, where developers will learn advanced techniques for building scalable, maintainable React applications while gaining a deeper understanding of React’s core concepts.

And if you’re ready to push your React skills even further, Ariel Shulman will break down React’s concurrent model from the ground up. You’ll learn how concurrency works in React, what problems it solves, and how server-side rendering (SSR) and streaming components fit into the picture.

From security to seamless transactions

As AI becomes deeply embedded in the tools we build, understanding its security and ethical implications is critical. Daniel Cuthbert has spent over two decades in cybersecurity, from offensive operations to building secure software systems. He is a key contributor to OWASP and one of the minds behind the widely adopted Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS). In his talk, he offers a compelling perspective on the risks and responsibilities that come with powerful AI technologies, helping teams make informed and accountable choices.

Seamless and secure transactions are just as crucial. Alvaro Duran Barata will dive into the increasing demand for payment applications, showing how to leverage Python to build in-house solutions quickly and effectively. His talk will highlight best practices and real-world obstacles faced when processing payments at scale.
