The web platform has evolved dramatically over the last decade. Browsers are no longer just document viewers. They are complex runtimes with capabilities that offer many native functionalities. Yet most developers interact with only a small fraction of what the platform actually delivers.
In this talk we’ll take a tour through some of the features of the modern web platform. These “hidden gems” include some new CSS tricks, camera and microphone access, running models directly in the browser, and more. We’ll explore what stands behind the modern server-side rendering capabilities and other advanced features of the web platform.
Nowadays when pretty much everything is generated by an agent it’s more important than ever to understand the underlying capabilities of the web platform. By knowing what the browser can do natively, developers can make more informed decisions, reduce the usage of external libraries, and build more efficient and maintainable applications.
